• Regenerative Agriculture - Part 1
by ONFARM Support 399 0 0
Carbon Dioxide levels in our atmosphere continue to climb, as does our global atmospheric temperature. Despite greater awareness of the issues, and huge strides forward by the renewable energy industry, we are not having any effect on the overall problem. But some people think we're looking in the wrong place for the solution and that all we need to do is take some lessons from the way nature has always used it's resources to regulate heat across our blue planet. by Soils for Life 111 0 0
Hear from Rebecca Gorman about the practices they are using to repair the soils and landscapes at their farming property 'Yabtree West' and the positive outcomes as a result of implementing these practices.. Read the full case study at www.soilsforlife.org.au/yabtree-west/ Working as a journalist in Sydney, Rebecca Gorman became increasingly concerned about climate change and other big issues facing our society. Wanting to do something concrete to help, and remembering her rural childhood, Rebecca decided to return to the land. Rebecca and her partner John Sevior purchased 'Yabtree West', a property in Mundarlo, NSW, near where she grew up. With the support of the 8 families group, Rebecca studied Holistic Management and introduced and experimented with various methods of ecological improvement including Natural Sequence Farming. With manager Dean Hann, they have increased vegetation cover, are halting erosion and survived drought conditions in 2018 through a healthy functioning ecosystem. This case study shares the transformation experience of Rebecca Gorman and her family on Yabtree West.

It was a pleasure to be interviewed by JT in Hawkesbury NSW, discussing the impact the floods and recent drought have had on farmers across Australia, and what everyday Aussies can do to help support our farming community after so much devastation. Farmers are often the last people to ask for help, but the impact the last few years' weather conditions have had on the farming community can't be underestimated. With your support we're so proud to directly help our fellow farmers and give them some stability and security they deserve after such a tough last few years. #ourcowau #supportaussiefarmers #eatbettermeat

• A New (Re)Generation
by Kiss the Ground 148 0 0
When Carrie Richards was growing up, she always had a feeling she'd end up taking over the ranch that her family had owned and operated since 1941. What she didn't expect was to do so in her 30s, with a husband and two kids in tow, and to radically change the way her family had managed their land for generations. Through research, trial and error, and a tireless multi-generational effort, Carrie has been able to implement regenerative farming methods that build back soil and revitalize the land. By stewarding the land regeneratively - focused on the full spectrum of health from soil to cattle to community - Carrie is bringing new life to the family ranch and illustrating the wonderful possibilities of regeneration. • Kiss the Ground - Trailer
by Kiss the Ground 126 0 0
Narrated and featuring Woody Harrelson, Kiss the Ground is an inspiring and groundbreaking film that reveals the first viable solution to our climate crisis. Kiss the Ground reveals that, by regenerating the world's soils, we can completely and rapidly stabilize Earth's climate, restore lost ecosystems and create abundant food supplies. Using compelling graphics and visuals, along with striking NASA and NOAA footage, the film artfully illustrates how, by drawing down atmospheric carbon, soil is the missing piece of the climate puzzle. This movie is positioned to catalyze a movement to accomplish the impossible – to solve humanity's greatest challenge, to balance the climate and secure our species future. • The Regenerative Way
by ONFARM Support 202 0 0
Tarwyn Park Training is the leading provider of Natural Sequence Farming education, training and advisory services. We're committed to teaching Natural Sequence Farming. Whether that be in the paddock, the classroom or online. The key to Natural Sequence Farming is that plants managed water; that's what built the landscape. Plants are the engineers that build everything. And water is the carrier of the nutrients that feeds them. Natural Sequence Farming is an understanding of how the landscape functioned before any human interference. An observation of the patterns and processes present in our landscapes. We must learn to use that understanding. And begin observing our landscapes to learn to work alongside nature. Once we understand that. We can begin to rehydrate, rehabilitate and regenerate landscapes. Resulting in a healthier, more productive environment for all. 👨‍🌾 Learn More about Tarwyn Park Training - https://www.tarwynparktraining.com.au/ 🌏. • The Environment and Australian agriculture.
by ONFARM Support 102 0 0
Farming in Australia requires a special breed of person, one who has the courage, and the determination, to harness mother nature in her most challenging moods. Australian soils are less fertile than most other countries. We have the dubious honour of being the driest inhabited continent on earth with very limited rainfall, infertile soils in many areas, and a change in the season can often bring, drought, fire, or even flood. Our diverse climate ranges from alpine to monsoonal, tropical to temperate, with expanses of desert in the middle. The extremities of dry land farming present countless challenges, which keep them in touch with the force of nature so aptly depicted in Dorothea McKellar's timeless poem, 'My Country'. You learn enough about farming in one year to for it to make a fool of you in the next, and it is this ongoing challenge of the unknown that makes farming a very interesting occupation. "We love the land and what it provides." John and Jennifer, Simon, Sue and their children, Anastasia, Sienna and Harvey.McFarlane Family Farmers are always safeguarding their livestock and their crops against extreme weather in order to protect their livelihoods. Horticulture farmers spread their risk often by spreading having their have crops in across multiple locations to make sure all their eggs are not in one basket if in case it floods, or they get hit with a or a hail storm. Livestock farmers often have station country for breeding their livestock, but finish them at another location that gets more reliable rainfall and has better soils. But farmers also need to protect against the financial market storms that can swing commodity prices wildly from one season to the next. They hedge their livelihood through multiple crop types, livestock types and combinations of these. If you don't do your numbers you can lose everything! If farmers don't work in harmony with the environment then it won't be viable for generations to come. They really are the biggest environmentalists Australia has.

• Recognising on-farm biodiversity management: AFBCS Phase 1
by ONFARM Support 107 0 0
This video provides a precis of the Australian Farm Biodiversity Certification Scheme Phase 1 Report delivered to the National Farmers' Federation in July 2020. During the consultation for this report, farmers identified the complexity, cost and difficulty of assessing and participating in multiple programs, as barriers to participating in current stewardship programs, including market-based initiatives. The report found that best results were likely to come from an overarching framework that connected and verified current and emerging programs and provided farmers with choice. This framework will provide a pathway to assuring market access, demonstrating robustness of verification and measurement tools, and supporting the further diversification of economic opportunities for farmers. The NFF is now focussed on developing a framework or meta-standard for Australian agriculture sustainability as part of the Australian Government's $34 million Agricultural Stewardship package.

And then you see them three years later and they're doing it. A large, very large farmer in Indiana, 22000 acres he grew of corn and soybeans and wheat. That's pretty big. And he was like, "I know I've got to grow these cover crops but I got five headers to chase and –" forget what you call green carts here "– the chasers and trucks. I have no one on the farm to do anything but harvest, harvest, any day, any hour it's fit." Well, he planted 100 acres of cover crops first year. The next year he planted 1200 acres. And the third year I think it was up to 4000. And the fourth year he was up to 12000. He found the people to do it. He found a way to get it done when he started seeing the benefits. And I had neighbours too, many neighbours, I could tell you they see what I'm doing and they giving me the same thing and before you know it, not all but some of them, they somehow they make it work. And there is positive peer pressure now. It's a whole lot better than it was 10 years ago when you just had a guy over here and someone – just so far apart no one even heard about them. Now, you see it in the ag media, and it's kind of almost a worldwide thing. ___ - W A N T M O R E - If you liked this video you will love the conversations and hanging out with like-minded people in our free Facebook group called Regenerative Farmers Who Know the Value of Healthy Soil - Join Now! http://farmingsecrets.com/facebook ___ - Y O U T U B E P L A Y L I S T S - 🌱How To Get Started With Regenerative Farming - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJKRaR_MRTJTd3qtllh3A945mU6329G4u 👨‍🌾How To Make Organic Compost with Dr. Elaine Ingham - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJKRaR_MRTJQb9TmBkTqckhi0P9U9X_fD 🚜Gabe Brown Shares His Wisdom - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJKRaR_MRTJSOGZ8vxdkboGE67NN6ISvr 🥗Food as Medicine with Jerry Brunetti - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJKRaR_MRTJQxbiA7MrNt0UyG6-k_cb6H ___ - F O L L O W A N D E N G A G E W I T H U S - 🎉Free Facebook Group - http://farmingsecrets.com/facebook 🎊Official Facebook Page - https://www.facebook.com/FarmingSecrets 📸Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/farmingsecrets 📺YouTube - https://farmingsecrets.com/youtube 🐦Twitter - https://twitter.com/farmingsecrets #FarmingSecrets

by ONFARM Support 399 0 0
Carbon Dioxide levels in our atmosphere continue to climb, as does our global atmospheric temperature. Despite greater awareness of the issues, and huge strides forward by the renewable energy industry, we are not having any effect on the overall problem. But some people think we're looking in the wrong place for the solution and that all we need to do is take some lessons from the way nature has always used it's resources to regulate heat across our blue planet. This case study shares the transformation experience of Rebecca Gorman and her family on Yabtree West.

by Kiss the Ground 148 0 0

Elaine Ingham - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJKRaR_MRTJQb9TmBkTqckhi0P9U9X_fD 🚜Gabe Brown Shares His Wisdom - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJKRaR_MRTJSOGZ8vxdkboGE67NN6ISvr 🥗Food as Medicine with Jerry Brunetti - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJKRaR_MRTJQxbiA7MrNt0UyG6-k_cb6H ___ - F O L L O W A N D E N G A G E W I T H U S - 🎉Free Facebook Group - http://farmingsecrets.com/facebook 🎊Official Facebook Page - https://www.facebook.com/FarmingSecrets 📸Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/farmingsecrets 📺YouTube - https://farmingsecrets.com/youtube 🐦Twitter - https://twitter.com/farmingsecrets #FarmingSecrets

by ONFARM Support 224 0 0
Micronutrients are critical components of plant development. In this webinar, AEA founder John Kempf provides an in-depth look at the most important seven micronutrients for disease resistance and high-yield production. For each one, John discusses their functions within the plant, as well as the disease and insect prevention benefits each can provide with the correct management. John also talks about micronutrient mobility within the plant and the different methods of chelation. Slides available at https://www.slideshare.net/AdvancingEcoAgricult/the-role-of-micronutrients-in-crop-health-and-disease-resistance.
